Risks Associated with Physical Activities

Participation in physical activities, sports, and fitness involves a number of risks that can result in serious injury or death. Under no circumstances should equipment be used for purposes other than those for which it was designed or when it is damaged or defective.

Equipment Installation

Equipment must be used under the supervision of responsible adults and after a reasonable inspection for proper operation.

Equipment installation must follow the manufacturer's recommendations, including all required auxiliary components such as anchors, concrete, etc.

Use of Sports Equipment

SportDirect.ca cannot be held responsible for accidents caused by improper use of the equipment sold. Never leave children unsupervised.

Urethane foam is flammable!

Urethane foam will burn if exposed to an open flame or other free-standing heat source. Urethane foam should not be exposed to open flames or other high-temperature direct or indirect ignition sources, such as burning, welding, burning cigarettes, space heaters, or open lighting.

When ignited, urethane foam burns rapidly, releasing high heat and consuming high levels of oxygen. In a confined space where there is a lack of oxygen, this poses a suffocation hazard to occupants. The hazardous gases emitted by burning foam can be incapacitating or fatal if inhaled in sufficient quantities.

When ignited, urethane foam is difficult to extinguish. Foam fires that appear to be out may persist and reignite. Always check with a firefighter to determine if the fire has been extinguished.
